Apple Store: Will that be plastic, or plastic?

Apple Stores should hang a new sign at all location: "Credit or Debit only for iPads or iPhones."

That's right, your cash isn’t welcome as payment for an iPad or iPhone at the Steve Jobs stores. This story is circulating widely across the Internet, and I found a four-minute video from KGO-TV in San Francisco that documents the tale of a woman whose cash was shunned recently when she went to buy an iPad.

Watch the video:

Apple's sale agreement includes small-print language stipulating the no-cash policy for this product. Insiders say Apple instituted the credit-or-debit restriction to track purchases and discourage resellers from hoarding the gadgets or selling them in countries where the iPad is not yet available. The Apple sales policy limits individual buyers to two iPads or iPhones. Allowing cash purchases would let folks skirt the iLimit.

Buyers with no credit or debit cards in their pockets should head to the nearest Best Buy store, as they will take your cash. These stores may be out of the popular gadgets, so patience may be necessary.
