Arizona dad gets prison for beating school bus driver, 73
A northwest Arizona resident is going to prison for beating up his 11-year-old daughter's school bus driver in August.
Randolph Evans, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, was sentenced to nine months in prison Wednesday.
Prosecutor Rod Albright said Evans, 42, confronted the 73-year-old bus driver at his daughter's stop in Fort Mohave.
Evans was upset about an undisclosed incident that occurred on the bus the day before the assault in August, Albright said. Evans forced his way through the accordion-style doors and pummeled the driver in the presence of his daughter and other children.
The bus driver reportedly missed three weeks of work while recovering from the assault. No one else was hurt.
Under terms of the plea agreement, Evans is required to pay at least $1,200 to reimburse the bus driver's medical expenses.
