Arizona man killed in motorcycle accident

A resident of the northwest Arizona Colorado River community of Topock was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said Robert Lee Paulson, 56, died at the scene of the 3:20 p.m. crash about six miles south of the historic mining town of Oatman.

Paulson, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal head injuries when the motorcycle he was riding crashed after failing to negotiate a curve on the Oatman Highway, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman said. Investigators determined alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

A female passenger, 48-year-old Lisa Ann Whitaker of Bullhead City, wore a helmet and survived the incident.

The woman was flown to University Medical Center for treatment of fractured ribs, a spinal injury and a collapsed lung.
