North Las Vegas police have arrested a suspect in the May shooting death of 16-year-old Donald Troutman.
Soloman White, 19, of Las Vegas, was booked Friday into the North Las Vegas Detention Center on one count of murder with a deadly weapon and four counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon.
The "search has been called off" for two other teenagers who police sought for questioning, police said. Police are looking for additional suspects, according to Sgt. Tim Bedwell.
"It's an on-going investigation," he said."
Troutman died from a gunshot wound in his right buttock, according to the Clark County coroner's office.
The shooting occurred about 6:35 p.m. May 26 in the 5100 block of Cross Ranch Street, near Fifth Street and Washburn Road. Troutman's body was found nearby on Knife River Street.
Troutman's grandmother, Della Jerkins-Chaney, said he was killed after a fight with a member of the HTO gang. She said he played basketball against the gang member's younger brother and was ambushed while walking home.
"He was on his way home, and they jumped out, and they had a fight," she said.
Then one of the suspects "ran back to his car, grabbed a gun and shot him," she said.
Police did not indicate whether the slaying was gang-related or whether Troutman had been in a gang.
