Arrest made in Henderson murder, stabbing

A 34-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on murder charges in the stabbing of two men last month, Henderson police said.

Francisco Mata was booked at the Clark County Detention Center, police said. He is accused of stabbing Pedro Ortega-Vivanco, 30, and Hector Ortega-Gonzalez, 37, on Nov. 24.

Police said the incident happened near Lindell Road and state Route 160 in Las Vegas. The victims drove to a Henderson gas station, where a clerk called 911.

When officers arrived, they discovered Ortega-Vivanco dead in a van. Ortega-Gonzalez was seriously wounded.

Members of the Criminal Apprehension Team, which is made up of FBI agents and detectives from Henderson and Las Vegas police, arrested Mata on Tuesday night at 3712 Glendale Ave. in North Las Vegas.
