Ashjian ballot ruling appealed

One day after a Carson City judge ruled Scott Ashjian would remain on the Nevada ballot for U.S. Senate as a member of the Tea Party, the president of Tea Party organization Anger is Brewing and three others filed an appeal with the Nevada Supreme Court.

Debbie Landis, of Anger is Brewing, Chuck Muth and Dan Burdish of the conservative Citizen Outreach, and Janine Hansen, executive director of the Independent American Party and a Nevada Assembly candidate are the plaintiffs.

Carson City Judge James Wilson on Thursday dismissed the groups' lawsuit filed Aug. 31, saying deadlines to mount election challenges in court were in March and June.

National and local Tea Party leaders have denounced Ashjian's candidacy.

The lawsuit asks the justices to consider the same facts Wilson reviewed , whether Ashjian's alleged failure to comply with procedures related to qualifying for the ballot trump statutory deadlines.
