Attorney general warns of deed scam

CARSON CITY -- The Nevada attorney general's office is alerting consumers about a company that is sending out notices to homeowners about their property deeds.

Notices from Title Compliance state it will acquire a copy of the homeowner's deed for $157. The company uses a Las Vegas post office box.

Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said such documents can be obtained from the county recorder's office for a lot less money than the fee charged by the company.
