(Auction) block party
February 19, 2010 - 3:15 pm
It's auction time again for Nevada Public Radio, who this year have teamed up with their cohorts from several Western states to bring a much-expanded list of items up open for bidding. There were 1,180 items in the auction catalog a short while ago. But because new offerings continue to be added, it's important to check the site often.
In addition to items from Southern Nevada donors, the auction includes items from Arizona, California, Oregon, Utah and Washington, as 10 public radio stations have joined forces for the online event.
Items are grouped by category, including dining; entertainment; travel; sports; health and fitness; art and collectibles; home and garden; pets; and several others. Be sure to check the "uniquely" sites, which include one-of-a-kind auction packages linked to specific locales. These include a sailing outing on San Francisco Bay and a meeting with Sacramento, Calif., Mayor Kevin Johnson, a former National Basketball Association star. Nevada's unique packages include Lake Mead cruise packages and an in-home demo and dinner by chef Kirk Offerle. (You'll have to do your own dishes afterward.)
Before you can bid, you must register. If you've bid in the Nevada Public Radio the last couple of years, your previous registration is still valid. Be sure to check your account page to update your payment method, then start bidding.
The auction runs through Feb. 27.
