B-52 flyover to pay tribute to Air Force flight surgeon

An Air Force B-52 bomber will fly over Palm Mortuary's Cemetery Northwest at 1 p.m. today as a tribute to Col. George Martin, a flight surgeon who was one of six crew members killed when a B-52 crashed this summer off the coast of Guam.

The memorial service is being held at the request of the family, Nellis Air Force Base officials said. The bomber conducting the flyover is from the 340th Weapons Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

Martin, 51, was deputy group commander for the 36th Medical Group from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The B-52 Stratofortress he was in crashed in the Pacific Ocean on July 21.
