Beam falls from forklift, kills worker at construction site
A worker at a construction site was killed Thursday afternoon after a beam fell on him, authorities said.
Clark County firefighters were called about 2:45 p.m. to a construction site in the 8500 block of West Sunset Road, near Durango Drive, spokesman Scott Allison said.
Witnesses told firefighters that a forklift had been moving a large beam when it fell on a man thought to be in his early 20s, Allison said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses think he realized the beam was going to fall because they saw him running away from the forklift just before he was crushed by the beam, Allison said.
No one else was injured.
The Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration will handle the investigation.
