Biden seeks union’s backing with visit to valley today

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden today becomes the latest in a parade of Democratic candidates speaking to members of the Culinary union in Las Vegas.

The Delaware senator is scheduled to address the union at 11 a.m. today at its headquarters. It will be his first time talking to the union of Strip hotel workers, considered Southern Nevada's most powerful labor group. The union is rallying support for its side in ongoing contract renegotiations.

The event is not open to the public. Last week, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards came to town to address union members; Bill Richardson also has met with the Culinary union.

At 2 p.m. today, Biden will attend the 100 Black Men conference at Paris Las Vegas, according to his campaign. He will not be speaking.
