Bilbray gains EMILY’s List endorsement for Congress

WASHINGTON – A national organization that raises campaign cash for Democratic women who are abortion-rights advocates announced Tuesday that it has endorsed Erin Bilbray-Kohn campaign for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.

“Erin Bilbray has spent her career fighting for women and families behind the scenes, and it’s time for her to be their voice in Washington,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List.

Bilbray-Kohn is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge two-term incumbent Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., in 2014.

EMILY’s List, which boasts more than 2 million members, endorsed 19 women who were elected to the House of Representatives in 2012. In all, it raised $52 million in 2011 and 2012 for candidates at the local, state and federal level.

The group endorsed six women on Tuesday who are running for Congress from Iowa, Florida, Illinois, New York, California and Nevada.
