CARSON CITY — Erin Bilbray-Kohn is asking the Federal Election Commission whether she can keep her job as a consultant to a political group she founded and still run for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District seat.
Bilbray-Kohn founded Emerge Nevada in 2006 and until recently served as its executive director. The group’s mission is to help recruit and elect more Democratic women to state and local offices. She now serves as a consultant and is paid $5,000 per month.
A letter sent to the FEC last week asks if she can retain that position if she becomes an official candidate to challenge incumbent Republican Rep. Joe Heck.
Bilbray-Kohn is the daughter of former U.S. Rep. James Bilbray, who was elected to Congress in 1986 and served through 1994.
