Body found in trunk identified

A man who was found dead in the trunk of a car on state Route 157 near Mount Charleston on Thursday has been identified as 51-year-old Salvador Gonzalez.

Investigators did not release Gonzalez's cause of death, but his body had obvious sharp force injuries, police said.

Gonzalez's family had reported him missing earlier in the week. He was last seen on Monday driving his 2002 Ford Escort in the area of Valley View and Charleston boulevards.

Gonzalez's body was found about 2 p.m. Thursday in the trunk of the Escort about four miles west of U.S. Highway 95, police said. Homicide detectives are investigating.
