Body of diver who jumped off 90-foot Lake Mead cliff found

A 23-year-old diver died after jumping off a 90-foot cliff on the Arizona side of Lake Mead near Sidewinder Cove, authorities said Sunday.

Friends of the Prescott, Ariz., resident called for help at about 3:45 p.m. after the diver failed to come out of the water. A Nevada Department of Wildlife warden was on scene within 15 minutes, said Roxanne Dey, spokeswoman for Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Wardens, rangers for the National Park Service and the Metropolitan Police Department launched a search and recovered the body about 8:15 p.m.

The diver's death is the 15th fatality at the recreation area this year.
