Boxer Mayweather missing from Obama campaign event

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was a no-show at a party for local black supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Wednesday.
Organizers of the event, the formal kickoff of African Americans for Obama in Nevada, said the fighter hadn't canceled his plans to appear prior to the event. Mayweather was to have been the event's main attraction, but his involvement became controversial because of his history of crimes including domestic violence.
Mayweather's manager, Leonard Ellerbe, said the fighter was spending all his time at the gym.
"Floyd is training for the biggest fight of his life -- December the 8th against Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand," Ellerbe said.
"That's what his 100 percent focus is because that's what he does for a living."
