BYU student from Fallon killed in climbing accident

PROVO, Utah - A Brigham Young University student from Nevada has been killed in a climbing accident in Utah.

Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Eldon Packer said 22-year-old Adam Perazzo of Fallon was climbing without any safety equipment Saturday near Stewart Falls when he fell about 70 feet to his death.

A group of his friends and paramedics tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Packer told The Salt Lake Tribune that Perazzo made it about halfway up the slippery rocks of the waterfall when he fell. He said it's common for people to slip and fall in the area.

Perazzo was a co-valedictorian when he graduated from Churchill County High School in Fallon in 2008. His father, David, is a longtime Fallon dairy farmer.
