Candidates to stump in valley
Barack Obama, John McCain, Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama, Rudy Giuliani: They're all here in Nevada in the final days of the presidential campaign.
In an indication of Nevada's status as a swing state from beginning to end, both major-party presidential nominees and some of their most high-profile advocates plan to try to capture voters' attention as the clock runs out on the race.
Here are the details of their events and how to attend, in order of appearance:
• Democratic nominee Obama is in Henderson today. Doors open at 7 a.m. for the rally at Coronado High School, 1001 Coronado Center Drive. The event is on the football field. It is free and open to the public.
• Republican former presidential candidate Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, is in Henderson today. He'll rally GOP supporters at 2:30 p.m. at the McCain campaign's regional headquarters, 8935 S. Pecos Road, Suite 22A.
• Obama's wife, Michelle, is in North Las Vegas on Monday. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for the event at the Cheyenne campus of the College of Southern Nevada, located at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
• Republican nominee McCain is in Henderson on Monday. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the event at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. It is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
• Republican vice presidential nominee Palin is in Reno and Elko on Monday. In Reno, doors open at 6 p.m. for the rally at the Livestock Center. In Elko, doors open at 8 p.m. for the rally at Elko High School.
In addition, three third-party vice presidential candidates will debate in Las Vegas on Sunday night at UNLV.
The debate between the Libertarian Party's Wayne Allyn Root, a local resident; the Constitution Party's Darrell Castle; and independent candidate Ralph Nader's running mate, Matt Gonzalez, is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Tam Alumni Center on the main campus, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
