Local celebrity chef Bradley Ogden, who was convicted last month of misdemeanor battery in Las Vegas Municipal Court and sentenced to 180 days in jail, has filed an appeal in the case, court records show.
Ogden, 55, was sentenced Oct. 15 for grabbing his girlfriend and pushing her to the floor at the Suncoast in 2006, according to court records.
The sentence included a $1,000 fine, 48 hours of community service and an order to stay away from the woman.
Attempts to reach Ogden were unsuccessful. Calls to his attorney were not returned. A spokeswoman at Harrah's Entertainment, which owns Caesars Palace, where Ogden has a restaurant, declined to comment.
Ogden, a famed Bay Area chef, opened the lauded Bradley Ogden restaurant at Caesars Palace in 2003. The restaurant is the only one in Las Vegas to win the James Beard Foundation's prestigious "Best New Restaurant" award.
According to a biography on the restaurant's Web site, Ogden has appeared on several television shows, including the "Today" show, "Good Morning America" and the Food Network's "The Secret Life Of ... " series.
Ogden has had previous run-ins with police over domestic violence with the same girlfriend, records show.
In August he was arrested by Santa Barbara County, Calif., sheriff's deputies for robbery and domestic violence, according to the incident report.
Ogden's girlfriend told police he grabbed her arm and ripped her purse away from her, leaving a red mark on the inside of her upper arm. The Santa Barbara County district attorney's office dismissed the charges.
In February 2005, Ogden was accused of punching his girlfriend and dragging her by her hair, according to Las Vegas police records. Police noted in the incident report that she had scratches on her hands and her hair "appeared that it had been pulled."
Later in 2005, she told police he shoved her and scratched her on the arm while he was trying to pick her up.
