Celebrity Pro-Am at TPC Summerlin

The list of celebrities teeing off during the morning session of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Celebrity Pro-Am left much to be desired.
To make matters worse, the most famous person among the nonprofessionals, actor-comedian George Lopez, didn't even make it to the course in time for his scheduled 8:20 a.m. start.
The next celebrity down the pecking order was actor Josh Duhamel. But much of his luster wore off when he arrived with no sign of his fiancee, Fergie, at his side.
It left the perfect opportunity to follow around one of the most popular golfers on the PGA Tour, John Daly.
One of the benefits of the sparse attendance at the event is that fans have an opportunity to interact with the golfers.
For most of the round, only about 10 people were walking around with Daly's group.
Daly did not disappoint the small crowd.
He was especially cordial with the guys playing with him as he would yell and cheer for each of their shots and offer words of encouragement.
One guy in the gallery yelled some version of "Great shot, John" after just about every shot Daly hit. The golfer acknowledged him nearly every time, but after awhile it got to be a bit much.
On one tee, the pudgy duffer pulled out a lighter to get just a quick puff on a cigarette.
The lighter featured a picture of one of Daly's idols, Elvis Presley.
A conversation ensued that featured Daly uttering, "I think he's out here still," referring to his belief that Presley is alive in Las Vegas.
Several holes later, the foursome caught up to the group in front and Daly was able to enjoy a full cigarette.
There was one disturbing part of the day in the Daly gallery. Some people just don't understand where to draw the line between a professional athlete's public and private life.
At some point, the small crew walking with Daly figured out that the attractive woman among the group was the golfer's girlfriend, Anna.
Most people just thought it was pretty cool and maybe got a smile out of it.
One guy, however, may have been just a bit too forward.
He asked, in this order and in all its grammatical glory, "What's your name?," "You really his girlfriend?" and "How's the drinkin'?"
The worst part is, he was actually trying to be friendly.
Needless to say, she quickly veered away from the man and pretty much stayed to herself the rest of the round.
And, in case you're wondering, yes, it was the same man that was consistently yelling, "Great shot, John."

Lopez update

George Lopez did not make it in time for his 10:20 a.m. tee time, but he was spotted on the course later in the morning.
It is unclear at what time he actually made it out.

Great Round

The group featuring pro Brian Davis finished with a morning-best 17-under par 55 in a scoring system that was a bit difficult to figure out.
The foursome was helped by a tremendous shot on the third hole, which was their 12th of the day.
One of the amateurs holed in a 5-iron from the fairway on the par-5 hole for a double eagle.
From the best that could be deciphered, the best score on the hole counted for the group's total, with the amateurs playing a par of one more than the actual par for the hole.
Therefore, the double eagle actually counted for 4-under.

It must be that time

The afternoon session feature quite a few more actual celebrities, in addition to some pretty big name golfers.
As Daly's group played its way back into the clubhouse on the ninth hole, the bleachers at the first tee were full and rocking.
It was not a traditional golf crowd. Most of the seats were filled with young women between the ages of 15 and 28.
That could only mean one thing.
Justin Timberlake was getting ready to begin his round.
