Fire officials said a wildfire in central Washington has destroyed at least one home, several outbuildings and is threatening more homes.
The fire, about 10 miles west of Yakima, started Sunday afternoon. It was burning on an estimated 3,000 acres and had sent a big plume of smoke over Yakima, a city of about 71,000.
Heavy winds are pushing the blaze toward an unknown number of homes, and firefighters were going door to door evacuating residents.
