CES to donate $100,000 to Clark County schools

Organizers of North America's biggest tech gadget show will take time out from their event to make a donation to local schools.

On Thursday at 1 p.m. the Consumer Electronics Association will make a $100,000 donation to the Clark County School District. The money will be used to develop a recycling program.

CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro, whose group runs the International Consumer Electronics Show, will present the donation, which will fund recycling programs at 50 schools.

In addition to the nod to local schools, the Consumer Electronics Show generates an estimated $200 million in non-gambling spending, plus whatever money unlucky exhibitors and attendees leave behind in casinos.
