Child dies after rescue from southeast valley fire

A 4-year-old boy died after being found by firefighters during a building fire in the southeast valley Tuesday afternoon.

The child was identified as Maximiliano Rene Ibarra-Martinez.

He was found in the master bedroom of a home in the 7200 block of Wichita Court, near Warm Springs Road and the Las Vegas Beltway. Firefighters received a report that multiple people were trapped, according to Clark County Fire Department Chief Erik Newman.

The firefighters entered through the back of the house, Newman said. The child was taken to University Medical Center and died shortly after arriving.

Nobody else was injured in the fire.

Fifty-four firefighters responded from the Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire Department and Henderson Fire Department, Newman said.
