Collision kills motorcyclist
A 37-year-old Las Vegas woman died Thursday after her motorcyle hit a car that cut in front of her, police said.
Officers were sent to the crash in the 2900 block of East Craig Road near Losee Road at 2:49 a.m. Thursday, North Las Vegas police said.
The woman was eastbound on Craig in the center traffic lane on a black 2007 Suzuki when a 1999 VW Beetle, driven by 30-year-old Eloy Perez, turned into her path, police said. Perez had been westbound on Craig and was trying to turn into a private driveway.
The motorcycle hit the car so hard that the bike exploded into pieces, police say. The woman, whose name was withheld by police, was taken to University Medical Center, where she died.
Perez, a Las Vegas resident, was not hurt in the crash. Police said they suspect Perez was under the influence at the time of the accident. Toxicology reports are pending.
