A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper found fatally shot at a residence Friday afternoon in the southwest valley died from a self-inflicted wound, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

Jeff Bruss, 29, of Las Vegas, died from a gunshot wound to the head. The coroner ruled his death a suicide.

Bruss was assigned to the agency's Southern Command, authorities said.

Las Vegas police said they responded to a residence at 1:08 p.m. on the 11000 block of Fiesole Street, near Southern Highland Parkway and Mugello Tree Street, on a report of an individual who had been shot.
