The writer of the editorial honored the past weekend at the Nevada Press Association banquet as Editorial of the Year was misidentified because of an editor's error in the contest submissions.

Glenn Cook, a Review-Journal editorial writer for the past five years, authored the winning entry, "A budgetary black hole," published Sept. 28 of last year.

The editorial, which addressed a legislative audit of Nevada's Division of Emergency Management, had "great flow" and was a matter of "importance" to readers, judges said. Cook, a University of Arizona graduate, has been with the Review-Journal since 1996.
