County-firefighter talks end; waiting begins
The final arbitration hearing for Clark County and its local firefighters union wrapped up Monday but the deadlock is still weeks from being resolved.
County and union leaders will submit their final offers over the next 30 days, at which time the offers will be made public.
The arbitrator will choose one and reject the other within 10 days after receiving the proposals.
Negotiators for both the county and the International Association of Firefighters Local 1908 were unavailable for comment Monday.
Union officials declared an impasse in labor talks in August after the county rejected what they said were $9.7 million in concessions.
County leaders dismissed the concessions as inadequate, arguing that the union officials exaggerated the savings.
