County firefighters to present contract deal to commissioners
Clark County firefighters plan today to offer county commissioners a proposed contract change that union members approved in a three-day vote last week, county officials said.
A couple of dozen firefighters, wearing bright yellow T-shirts, showed up at today's meeting where they awaited a chance to present the offer.
It calls for reducing firefighters’ cost-of-living raise to 2 percent from 3 percent in return for two additional paid leave days a year and a two-year contract extension.
The Fire Department also would forgo a $4 million security program, including fencing around fire stations, and use it for projects that might save money from the general operating fund.
