Cpl. Chester ‘Chet’ Foulke honored
Chester “Chet” Foulke was honored at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City on Thursday. Cpl. Foulke, who was buried with full military honors, fought on Iwo Jima during World War II. “It was an awful battle, the way we got slaughtered,” he recalled to a 2006 interview. “Some days you’d make it 100 or 200 yards. Some days 500 yards.” He was a past commandant of the Marine Corps League Detachment 186. He died Dec. 31 at age 89.
