Crash kills LV man, 70

A 70-year-old Las Vegas man died Friday after the vehicle he was traveling in was hit while making a turn at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Blankenship Avenue.

Police said a Chevrolet Malibu carrying the 70-year-old man was turning left from southbound Martin Luther King onto Blankenship about 5:30 p.m. when a northbound Ford Mustang, driven by Andre Laforet, 22, pulled around stopped traffic and hit the passenger side of the Malibu.

The man, who was in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead by emergency personnel, according to police. The driver of the Malibu, Georgia Green, 67, was transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

Laforet received minor injuries, police said.

Police said they were investigating the crash, with no charges filed as of late Friday.
