Danza steps up for two teams

It was Tony Danza's idea of the perfect doubleheader.

Before heading to Las Vegas on Saturday to star in "The Producers" at Paris Las Vegas, Danza had a starring role in the finale of his fast-pitch softball season.

He pitched his Dukes to their first title in 10 years in the Los Angeles-based league, a 10-8 triumph over rivals The Hitmen.

Danza's cast mates and crew members in Las Vegas had a special celebration waiting backstage Saturday.

They put up a banner in his dressing room that proclaimed "Dukes Win 10 to 8" and saluted him with champagne toasts and strawberries.

A beaming Danza added a play-by-play replay that would have made Vin Scully proud.

SCENE AND HEARD

Jeff Beacher had a big surprise waiting in the wings at "Beacher's Madhouse" on Saturday. Beacher unveiled Big Britney, a 275-pound copycat version who bore a striking resemblance to Beacher performing a spoof of Britney Spears' lame comeback attempt at the MTV Video Music Awards at the Palms. The evening included KISS bassist Gene Simmons being pulled on stage by Leonid the Magnificent and Mena Suvari checking out her boyfriend, dancer Mike Cordasco. ...

"Tonight Show" correspondent Marjorie Johnson visited Las Vegas over the weekend with members of the NBC show's staff. The 87-year-old Blue Ribbon Bake-Off winner and the crew filmed scenes at the Las Vegas BikeFest. Footage from their visit will air Thursday on the show.
