Deaths called murder-suicide

Two bodies found in a remote desert location at the base of the Sheep Mountains earlier this week most likely died in a murder-suicide, North Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

The Clark County coroner's office identified one of the bodies as Las Vegas resident Jeffrey L. Lingle, 38, and ruled his death a suicide. Lingle died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The identity of the second body, a woman, is not yet known.

North Las Vegas police found the bodies Monday afternoon near a red pickup truck two or three miles north of the Las Vegas Beltway and Losee Road.

North Las Vegas police Sgt. Justin Ryan said Wednesday afternoon that investigators were working to establish what the relationship between Lingle and the deceased woman was.

On Tuesday, Las Vegas police found two charred bodies in the southwest valley, in the area of state Route 160 and Hualapai Way.

The bodies were discovered in the back seat of a torched car. Las Vegas police are investigating the incident as a double homicide.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Lew Roberts said the cases are not related.

The two victims found Tuesday have not been identified.
