Decomposed body found at downtown motel

A badly decomposed body was found at a downtown motel Wednesday afternoon in what investigators are calling a homicide, Las Vegas police said.

Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said police were called to the Star Motel at 1418 S. Third St., near Main Street and Imperial Avenue, about 12:45 p.m.

Roberts said detectives found what appeared to be a male dead in the room, most likely for several days. The body was so badly decomposed that detectives were having troubling discerning the victim's race.

Roberts said it was too early to determine a motive. Police had no suspects. Roberts was unsure how the victim was killed.

Anyone with information regarding the slaying is urged to call Las Vegas police's Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
