Demonstrators seek ‘Freedom for Iran’ on Strip

About 100 local supporters of election protesters in Iran rallied near the Strip this evening, calling for an end to arrests and violence against demonstrators in the country.

Holding signs that read “Freedom for Iran,” the demonstrators, many with family members still in the country, chanted sayings and passed out fliers to passers-by.

“People are dying for the freedom I already have,” said Samira Knight, a 23-year-old UNLV graduate whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from Iran decades ago. “The government has kept them so suppressed. People are finally doing something about it.”

A similar rally will be held at UNLV tomorrow at 7 p.m.
