DMV warns: Stay away Monday

CARSON CITY -- The Department of Motor Vehicles is advising customers to avoid its offices Monday, traditionally its busiest day of the year.

Wait times on the Monday after Thanksgiving can be double or triple normal waits. DMV Director Bruce Breslow advises customers to come in to the offices later in the week.

Wait times Monday, which is called "Black Monday" by DMV employees, will be longer because the DMV will be closed on Thanksgiving and on Friday. Customers still can handle much of their business on the DMV website, by phone or at kiosks.

"Happy holidays from our family to yours," Breslow said. "Enjoy your Monday."
