Driver dies in U.S. 95 crash
A man was killed Tuesday night when he crashed his car into a wall on U.S. Highway 95, forcing the northbound lanes of the highway to close for roughly three hours.
Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Kevin Honea said the man, who was not identified, was driving north on the highway in a Lincoln Continental with Idaho plates.
About 7 p.m., he drifted off to the right side of the road just past Charleston Boulevard, causing the car to jump over the small retaining wall and into the sound wall, knocking down a light pole in the process.
The car then spun back into the northbound lanes, Honea said.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators don’t know what caused the accident, he said.
Drugs or alcohol do not seem to be factors in the crash.
