Dust advisory issued for Clark County
April 26, 2010 - 6:19 pm
Strong winds are expected to blow dust possibly into the unhealthful range today and Wednesday in Clark County, air quality officials said.
" As part of the county's dust-control program, air quality officials are sending notices to construction sites in the Las Vegas Valley and other outlying areas in the county, asking them to take precautions to prevent blowing dust," states the advisory issued Monday by the Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management.
The advisory asks motorists to drive slowly on unpaved roads, avoid driving across vacant lots and ride off-road vehicles only in approved areas outside the Las Vegas Valley.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for southwest winds between 21 mph and 25 mph with gusts as high as 43 mph today.
On Wednesday, southwest winds are expected to reach 31 mph with gusts up to 46 mph.
