Early voting begins in primary with expected low turnout
On the first day of early voting in the primary, 4,360 voters went to the polls in Clark County, according to the Elections Department website.
Early voting opened Saturday and continues through June 8. Turnout was expected to be low.
"We might see the lowest primary turnout in memory," Ross Miller, the secretary of state, tweeted early Saturday morning, providing a link to a voter information website. "Prove me wrong & vote."
Any voter registered in Clark County may vote at any of the 86 early voting sites. On Election Day, June 12, voters must vote at the polling place in the precinct in which they are registered.

The primary is a nominating election for the major parties, and only the names of candidates in contested Democratic and Republican races appear on the primary ballot. The winner advances to the general election on Nov. 6. In nonpartisan contests where more than two candidates filed, the top two vote getters move on.
Candidates for president and vice president and for special district offices only appear on the general election ballot.
