Last weeks' melt-down of the U.S. and world investment markets had a lot of people talking, but they certainly weren't searching for information online, as often as you'd think.

According to Heather Daugherty, the top researcher at Hitwise, an independent third-party company that measures the actual Web use of 10 million U.S. surfers, terms related to the economy weren't at the top of the most-searched list. Nope. People were more interested in finding information about "Dancing With the Stars" than finding out what was happening to their retirement funds and investments.
