Elizabeth Taylor classy at any age

Two months away from her 78th birthday, Elizabeth Taylor is still one classy dame.

After attending "Love" at The Mirage on Friday night, Taylor was in a wheelchair on her way to a waiting limo when she made a detour. Wearing black mink and the iconic 33.19-carat Krupp diamond ring Richard Burton gave her, Liz made a point of stopping at Stack restaurant to cancel an 11 p.m. dinner reservation.

Taylor's assistant wheeled the screen diva to Stack's podium and apologized, saying Taylor was tired.

"To do that in this day and age means she was born with manners and grace," said Beth Bartolini, public relations director for The Light Group, which owns Stack.

Taylor, who saw "Le Reve" at Wynn Las Vegas on New Year's Eve, had heads spinning as she was guided through the casino on the way to the valet area and a trip back to the Wynn.

She celebrated her 75th birthday at the Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas with a VIP gathering that included Steve and Elaine Wynn, Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher and Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn. Draped in white mink that night, Tayor said, "I love Vegas. It's such a fun and happy place."

THE SCENE AND HEARD

Former American League MVP Jason Giambi, who lives in the Las Vegas area, is an investor in Vanity, the new Hard Rock Hotel tower's club, according to the Denver Post. Giambi, whom the Colorado Rockies are hoping to re-sign as a pinch hitter, turns 39 on Friday, which would have been Elvis Presley's 75th birthday.
