Ex-minister arrested in road rage incident

CARSON CITY -- A retired minister from McDermitt has been arrested in a road rage incident in Carson City.

Sheriff's deputies say Elmer French was booked Monday on suspicion of felony assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

The 65-year-old former Baptist pastor was accused of closely following a motorcycle and waving a loaded .40-caliber handgun after he was unable to pass the motorcyclist.

French said he flashed the weapon because he thought the rider was going to ram his sport utility vehicle.
