Family Court candidates face hearing

The Nevada Judicial Selection Commission will interview 15 candidates Monday and Tuesday who are vying for two open Family Court judgeships.

The public is invited to comment and sit in on the application process.

The candidates are seeking to be appointed to the two vacancies left open by Stefany Miley, who was elected to District Court, and Sandra Pomrenze, who was elected to a newly created seat in Family Court.

Comments from the public will be taken from 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the Nevada Supreme Court's Las Vegas courtroom on the 17th floor of the Regional Justice Center, at Third Street and Lewis Avenue.

The commission will interview and conduct background investigations on candidates. It then will send its nominees to the governor, who will make the final decision.
