Female bicyclist dies after minivan hits her

A 43-year-old woman riding a bicycle died Thursday morning after being struck by a minivan, Las Vegas police said.

The accident occurred about 7 a.m. on Durango Drive north of Dorrell Lane. The woman, a Las Vegas resident, was not identified by police.

The bicyclist was traveling north on the edge of the right lane. A man driving a Toyota Sienna was behind her in the right lane. Police said the driver, 54-year-old Gary Garnese of Las Vegas, drifted to the right and struck the bicyclist. The minivan continued to drift and struck a palm tree.
