Fire burns east of Reno; no structures threatened
RENO -- A Reno Fire Department spokesman says a fire east of Reno has burned about 1,000 acres but no structures are threatened.
Spokesman Chris Good told the Reno Gazette-Journal that 10 engines and two water tenders are helping to battle the blaze near Lockwood. Hand crews and bulldozers are also being sent to the scene.
The fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and is burning cheat grass and brush in steep, rocky terrain.
The cause is not yet known.
