Fire chief in Fort Mojave Mesa, Ariz., dies

KINGMAN, Ariz. — Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Chief Darrell Raburn, 64, died Monday.

Emergency medical personnel who responded to a 911 call to Raburn’s home about 7:30 a.m. found him unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center in Bullhead City.

Raburn’s fire service career spanned more than 33 years. Raburn had been working for the Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department for seven years and served as its chief for the past six months.

Battalion Chiefs will command fire department operations until an interim chief is selected. A memorial service is scheduled Saturday at noon at St. Margaret Mary’s Church, 1691 N. Oatman Rd., in Bullhead City.
