Firewood permits available

Firewood cutting season will begin at the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area on Friday.

A $20 permit must be purchased before cutting or collecting firewood.

Permits will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the U.S. Forest Service office, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive.

The cutting season will end Oct. 31.

A limited number of permits will be distributed Friday. There is a limit of two permits per household.
