Five jailed for loitering, weapons near a school

Five people, including an Eldorado High School student, were arrested Friday for loitering near the high school while riding in a car full of weapons that included a loaded gun and two swords, a Clark County School District spokesman said.
Police Lt. Ken Young said the arrests foiled plans for an apparent after-school fight at the campus near Linn Lane and Washington Avenue.
Four adults were arrested at about 1:30 p.m. when police stopped a car after receiving a tip that there would be a fight involving weapons, Young said.
Arrested were Richard Wagner, 18, Leopoldo Parra, 20, Robert Ross, 21, and James Grant, 30.
One minor, the student, was arrested, but his name was not released.
Young said police found a semiautomatic .38-caliber handgun, two swords, five baseball bats and two knives in the car.
He said the five adults were charged with loitering about schools with weapons, which is a misdemeanor.
Police were still trying to determine late Friday whether the suspects were affiliated with a gang.
The arrests capped a week of violence at or near public schools. High school students were arrested for having guns on school property Wednesday and Thursday. Also on Wednesday, Susan Waters, the principal of Hancock Elementary School, was punched by a man and received a concussion when she escorted two feuding parents off her campus during a school dance.
