Former voice of ‘Peanuts’ character pursues post

MINDEN -- A man who once was the voice of Schroeder in some "Peanuts" television specials is running for a seat on the Douglas County School Board.

Greg Felton, also a former director of international trade for Hewlett-Packard Co., filed by Friday's deadline to challenge incumbent Cindy Trigg.

Felton has three children in each of the three schools in the Lake Tahoe portion of the school district.

"I believe that, if possible, our board should be made up of people with a stake in the game," he told Gardnerville's Record-Courier.

In the 1970s, Felton was the voice of Schroeder in at least three feature-length animated cartoons based on characters in Charles M. Schulz's long-running comic strip "Peanuts."

The animated shows were "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown," "Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown" and "It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown."

The character Lucy van Pelt always vied for the attention of Schroeder, who was known for his love of classical music and his skill at playing the toy piano.
