Foundation seeking citizen hero nominees
January 22, 2010 - 10:00 pm
The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation is looking for unsung heroes.
One from each state will be considered for recognition as "ordinary Americans who become extraordinary through their indomitable courage and selflessness," the foundation said.
A panel of Medal of Honor recipients will select three finalists.
Like the highest military award, the Citizen Service Above Self Honors focuses on the concept of "service above self" and deeds must be performed "above and beyond" one's professional area of responsibility or conduct.
The heroes will be honored March 25, National Medal of Honor Day, near the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.
