Free Slurpees for everyone!

Today's the day! Get your Slurpee on with a freebie from 7-Eleven.

Here's my original post from last week:

You've heard of Black Friday, but the folks at 7-Eleven want you to remember Slurpee Purple Friday. Both hit Friday, Nov. 26, the day after Thanksgiving and the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.

The promotion is part of the buzz created when President Barack Obama called himself a fan of the frozen concoction. Not to miss a beat, 7-Eleven geared up and created the Slurpee Unity Tour, sending a tricked-out Slurpee bus (it's actually a truck pulling a giant trailer) on the road to spread the good cheer of serving free frosty drinks.

You'll need a coupon to get the free Slurpee next Friday, and the only place to get it is the Slurpee Facebook fan page: www.facebook.com/slurpee.

Visit the page daily to see where the next stop in the Unity Tour is scheduled. The Slurpeemobile pulled into Washington, D.C. earlier today.

Some fun Slurpee facts: (thanks to Tami Belt of Blue Cube Marketing Solutions)
— Slurpee drinks are served at 28 degrees
— Early prototypes of the Slurpee machine used an automobile air conditioning unit
— Slurpee was "invented" when some sodas were put in a freezer to cool them down
— Bob Standford, a 7-Eleven agency directory, coined the term "Slurpee" in 1967.

I guess the name is better than "brain freeze beverage."
